Changes in This Release for Oracle Database Global Data Services Concepts and Administration Guide

This preface contains:

Changes in Oracle Database 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.2)

The following are changes in Oracle Database Global Data Services Concepts and Administration Guide for Oracle Database 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.2).

New Features

The following features are new in this release:

  • Support for administrator-managed Oracle RAC databases

In this release Global Data Services supports both administrator-managed and policy-managed Oracle RAC databases.

  • Support for Oracle GoldenGate

Global Data Services has had support for Oracle GoldenGate starting from the initial release of Oracle Database 12c; however, at that time there was no version of Oracle GoldenGate that could work with Oracle Database 12c. The limitation with using Oracle GoldenGate with Global Data Services is that role-based services and tracking of replication lag are not supported.

See "Global Data Services Use Cases," for new use cases including Oracle GoldenGate.

  • Support for export and import of data stored in the GDS catalog.

The Global Data Services administrator can create a logical backup of the GDS catalog by exporting the catalog to a file. The backup can be used to restore the catalog after a failure or to move the catalog to another database.
